1. How do I obtain a racing license and can I get
my racing license after taking the school? If you
have previous racing experience, you may obtain a waiver from your
SCCA local license chair. Then, you will be allowed to race on your novice
permit after completing a FAASST race school. If you do not have previous racing experience, then you will need to follow the SCCA License Procedure. After you
successfully complete two SCCA regional events, you may then apply to
SCCA National for your Regional Competition License. The phone number for
SCCA is 800-770-2055. 2. I have prior racing experience, how do
I get an SCCA school waiver? Contact
your local SCCA divisional license chair for a waiver. Call FAASST at
719-761-1372 if you do not have the correct contact information and we
will get that for you. 3. Does the school offer rental cars or do
I have to bring my own? FAASST
offers both. Bring your own race prepared or street performance car. Race rentals are available from one of our many arrive and drive resources. Contact us at least 60 days in advance of your school date
for additional details regarding race rentals. 4. Does the school meet SCCA or NASA
school requirements? We are an
SCCA Accredited Racing School. Therefore, our
one day racing school counts as one school credit towards an SCCA novice racing
license. If you have previous racing experience, you may however, obtain a waiver from your local license chair
(see item #2) and then obtain your novice racing license by
completing the FAASST Accredited Racing School. Our 2 Day race school counts as two SCCA school credits for novice permit holders.SCCA race licenses are accepted by NASA, BMWCCA, PCA, POC, USRRC, IMSA, ALMS and FIA. 5. How is the FAASST Racing School different from
an SCCA Driver’s School? The FAASST
racing school emphasizes advanced racing techniques that will allow a racer
to practice, qualify and successfully navigate a racing circuit, at competitive
racing speeds. Flags and passing rules are included per the SCCA
accreditation. An SCCA Driver’s School better emphasizes the General
Competition Rules (GCR), race registration, flags, and grid procedures. 6. I already have a competition license,
can I still take the racing school? Yes, many
of our students are seasoned racers who are looking to refresh their
skills, improve their finishing position or are looking for tenths on the track. You may also consider an advance coaching session. Call us for details. 7. Does the school offer consecutive
lapping and are the laps timed? Yes, all
lapping sessions are 20 -30 minutes in duration and all laps are
consecutive. Laps are timed during the race school and all students are individually briefed as
appropriate. 8. How much track time do I get? Track time
is important so you can apply the advanced driving and racing
techniques learned in the classroom session. Platinum Package - Racing School 2 Day: 7 hours 9. Is passing allowed during the school? Yes,
passing is allowed, although in the interest of safety, we do our best
to keep students well separated while on the track so that passing is
not necessary while students are learning and implementing new driving
/ racing techniques. Passing drills and practice starts are included in the SCCA accredited racing school. 10. Do you offer any student discounts? All of our students and graduates receive
10% off on Racing Gear and other racing accessories.
Visit our Online Store! Call us if you can't find what you are looking for. Car clubs and groups who register 5+ cars (from the same group) for the same school event receive 10% off school fees. Additional discount information (if available) will be sent to you upon completion of the
registration process. 11. How much does the school cost and when
is payment due? Can I pay at the School? Pricing for FAASST Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze packages vary depending on the race track where the event is scheduled . Please call us if you don't understand the current pricing structure on our registration web page. Upon
receipt of your online registration information or telephone
registration, you will receive an invoice from FAASST confirming the
details of your class. A $525 deposit is required within 4 days of your registration to guarantee your spot; payment options
will be outlined in the letter we send to you upon receipt of your
registration information. Full payment is due 30 days prior to the
class date. Late
registrations and payment the day of the class are accepted on a
case-by-case basis. We encourage you to register early to ensure your spot and to receive the
benefits of our pre-class correspondence. 12. What is your payment and cancellation
policy? Can I cancel and get a refund if I cannot make the school date
for some reason? Our Faasst payment, refund and cancellation policy is posted on our website here. 13. Will I fail the course if I spin out
or go ‘off track’? No,
students will often spin or go ‘off track’ when learning new skills.
Safety is paramount and while we don’t encourage spins or driving off the
track, we do understand that it can be a normal part of track driving and the
learning process when a student is trying hard or giving his / her
all. Spinning or going off track is noted, but not reprimanded. 14. Does the school run in adverse weather
conditions or in the rain? The school
will run rain or shine. Other weather conditions are monitored and
decisions are made on a case-by-case basis, as appropriate. You will not lose your registration fee if we cancel the school due to weather. If we run the school in the rain, however, and you choose not to participate, you will be considered and no show and all monies paid will be forfeited. 15. Who can I bring with me to the school? You may
bring one pit crew member with you to assist you during the school.. Additional family
members and friends may attend the school and assist in the pits. All attending must sign the track liability waiver and the FAASST liability waiver. You are responsible for the behavior of everyone that you bring to the track with you. 16. Do I need to have any track driving or
racing experience before I register for the school? No, as
long as you have a valid street driving license, and are at least 16 years of age, you may participate in
any of our schools. Cars and driver's gear must conform to and pass the appropriate tech inspection. 17. Is there a two day racing school
offered? The Platinum Package is our 2 day SCCA Race School and is only offered at Colorado Tracks. This course offering provides a 2 school credit upon completion if you missed a local SCCA driver's school and need to get your school needs met more quickly. 18. How fast will I be driving? How fast
you drive will be up to you. However, we carefully control the track
environment so that safety is never compromised. Due to the natural
progression of the school, students learn how to approach normal
high performance or competition racing speeds by the end of the day. 19. Will I be driving alone or with an instructor? Most
students learn enough in classroom and in car control drills to
navigate the racing circuit on their own. However, an instructor may
ride with a student if the need arises and if the car is safe for an
instructor to strap in on the passenger side. 20. Do I have to have a race car to participate? The SCCA Accredited Racing School requires that you bring a race
prepared car to class. The race car must have an annual tech sticker or proof of a recent
tech inspection recorded in the vehicle log book. The car must have a log book. The General Tech and Safety Preparation Provisions are outlined by the SCCA GCR. Street prepared cars
are ideal for our High Performance Courses and must pass the FAASST
technical inspection, a copy of which may be requested by calling
719-761-1372 or emailing registration@faasst.com. 21. What kind of driving gear do I need
for the school? Racing
participants must bring adequate racing gear as outlined in the SCCA
General Competition Rules, which includes helmet (SA2005 or higher), gloves, shoes, and
a two layer suit (single layer with underwear accepted). High
performance students must bring a helmet,
leather palm gloves, long pants and shoes. All of our
students may purchase Racing Gear
and other racing accessories from FAASST. Non-students can also buy gear from
FAASST at very competitive rates.. Additional information is sent to students upon completion
of the registration process. 22. How do I know if my car will pass tech inspection? Race prepared cars attending our Platinum or Gold Package Race Schools must have a log book or annual tech completed by the SCCA, NASA or another well recognized sanctioned race body. Street cars attending our Silver or Bronze Package High Performance Driving Schools must pass our HP Tech Inspection which can be viewed online here.
